Privacy Policy

Meiimo Technology Co., Ltd. (“Meiimo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides le meiimo Spotlight (“Spotlight”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you use Spotlight and its related account, presentation-processing, and support services.

1. Our shared account and separate products

le meiimo Spotlight and le meiimo Secretary use a shared Meiimo account. Account information needed for sign-in, account security, and account management may therefore be used across both products.

Sharing an account does not automatically share your documents between products or give you a subscription to both. Product content, usage allowances, and subscription entitlements are managed separately unless an offer expressly states otherwise. le meiimo Secretary’s additional processing is described in its Privacy Policy (https://meiimo.com/secretary-privacy/).

2. Information we process

Depending on the features you use, we process:

  • Account information: your account identifier, email address, sign-in method, and information provided by a sign-in provider that is needed to authenticate or manage your account.
  • Presentation content: PDF, PPT, PPTX, and other supported material you choose to open or submit; page images and text; and included speaker notes. This may include personal information in the presentation.
  • Presentation results and edits: generated or imported scripts, Focus Targets and their labels, narrative anchors and geometry, user edits, ordering, effect choices, and related presentation settings.
  • Speech information: microphone audio and recognized text when you activate speech features, as described below, together with relevant language and recognition settings.
  • Purchase information: product identifiers, purchase or subscription status, transaction references, and usage records needed to provide paid features. Your payment platform handles payment credentials; we do not need full payment-card details to validate an app-store purchase.
  • Technical and support information: app and operating-system versions, request identifiers, processing duration, error codes, service usage, connection information such as IP addresses where recorded by infrastructure, and information you send to support.

Technical records may be linked to an account or request and are not necessarily anonymous. Optional analytics, if offered, are distinguished from records necessary to operate and secure the service.

3. Why we use information

We use information to authenticate you; display and analyze presentations; prepare scripts and Focus Targets; preserve your work and edits; provide speech-driven presentation features; administer subscriptions and usage; provide support; and maintain reliability and security.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the activity, such as performing our agreement with you, meeting legal obligations, legitimate interests subject to applicable safeguards, or your consent. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

4. Presentation processing and AI services

Local thumbnails or local presentation display do not mean that analysis and generation operate entirely offline. Content submitted for server-based processing is transmitted to our backend, and relevant document content, text, or page images may be sent to AI and infrastructure providers.

Preparation may run in the background for the document you opened, according to the app’s available features and disclosures. This can include preparing pages other than the page currently displayed. We explain relevant permissions and disclosures before processing where required.

Existing local scripts, Focus Targets, and user edits are distinct from a new generation request. Reopening saved work is not, by itself, permission for unrelated reuse of that content.

Accepting these policies is not, by itself, permission to use your private content to train general-purpose AI models. Any separate use requiring consent must be explained and agreed to separately. Provider retention is distinct from Meiimo server retention; we do not promise zero provider retention unless verified for the service concerned.

5. Microphone and speech features

le meiimo Spotlight requests the permissions needed for speech features. You activate listening through the available microphone control or shortcut and may stop it or revoke permission in system settings.

The current macOS Live Speech path uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition and matches recognized speech to presentation targets locally. If the required on-device recognition is unavailable, that path does not silently switch to a server-recognition service. This describes Live Speech, not every document-processing feature in Spotlight.

If an audio-file upload feature is made available and you choose to use it, the selected file is transmitted for server-side recognition; that is a separate action from using the on-device Live microphone.

Recognized text is used to display speech and drive relevant presentation actions. Diagnostic handling and any retained speech-related information must follow the purposes and retention rules in this policy. We do not claim that every diagnostic record is anonymous or that all app data remains on your device.

Speech handling on any additional platform will be disclosed for that platform before the feature is offered.

6. Local storage and server storage

le meiimo Spotlight keeps app-managed working data such as scripts, Focus Targets, edits, preferences, and caches on your device where needed. Server-side copies of submitted content, generated results, and processing records have a separate lifecycle.

Deleting server data does not necessarily erase an original presentation, exported file, or copy held on another device. Uninstalling the app does not by itself delete your server account or data. The deletion instructions distinguish these scopes.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information or use your private presentation content for targeted advertising.

We disclose information to service providers as needed for the purposes described above, subject to appropriate contractual and security arrangements. Sign-in and payment platforms may also process information under their own policies.

When you project, export, or share material, you control the intended audience or destination. Copies outside our control are subject to the recipient’s or destination’s handling. We may also disclose information where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate abuse, or address security threats, subject to applicable law.

8. Retention

We retain information only for as long as needed for the stated purposes, taking account of active services, deletion requests, recovery needs, security, and legal obligations.

  • Server-side retention of submitted content and generated results depends on the processing, retrieval, and deletion needs of the service. Local files and user edits have a separate lifecycle.
  • We maintain backups of our shared account database. Deletion from active systems does not necessarily remove information immediately from existing database backups. Database backups do not include files stored separately in object storage; those files have a separate storage and deletion lifecycle.
  • Some requests require completion of in-progress work or additional identity verification. A pending request or a partial failure is not confirmation that all applicable data has been deleted. If a request cannot be completed, we will explain the available next step through the app or support process.
  • Account and transaction records: retained while needed for account administration and any applicable legal, tax, accounting, dispute, or fraud-prevention obligations. Exceptions to deletion are limited to those purposes.

Local originals and independently retained exports remain under your control.

9. Your choices and rights

You may manage available permissions and preferences, request access to or correction of your personal information, and request deletion. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to portability, restriction, objection, or a complaint to a supervisory authority.

Account deletion is different from subscription cancellation. Manage subscriptions through the platform from which you purchased them.

If you cannot access the app, contact support@meiimo.com. We may ask for proportionate identity verification; do not send passwords, access tokens, or payment credentials.

10. Security and children

We use safeguards appropriate to the information and processing, including encrypted transport and access controls. No system is completely secure. Submit only content you are authorized to process; do not assume certifications or protections for specially regulated data unless we expressly confirm them.

le meiimo Spotlight is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age required by applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this policy.

11. Changes and contact

We update this policy when our practices change. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes and obtain additional consent where required; continued use does not replace consent that the law requires.
